This year we were fortunate in having Sir Peter Williams, CBE, as our distinguished speaker to address the Academy. His chosen topic “An Enterprising Solution to the Global Economic Challenge” was obviously timely and directly relevant to the work of the Academy.
Sir Peter is a much sought after speaker on economic/enterprise issues. He is:
Vice President of the Royal Society
Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering
Chancellor of Leicester University
Chairman of the National Physical Laboratory
Director of GKN plc and W S Atkins plc
Trustee of Marie Curie Cancer Care
Previously he was
Chairman and Chief Executive of Oxford Instruments
Master of St Catherine’s College, Oxford
Chairman of the Engineering and Technology Board
Chairman of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council
His experience spans many areas of the globe, in particular, the Far East and North America and he is well qualified to present a global perspective on the major economic changes that are occurring.
