It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Prof. John Kelly on Saturday, 12th November 2022.
John Kelly was formerly Professor of Chemical Engineering, Registrar and Dean of Engineering in University College Dublin.
John made an outstanding contribution to the work of the Irish Academy of Engineering. In 2010 he led the taskforce which produced the report Engineering Research in Irish Economic Development. This report highlighted the importance of applied engineering research to the Irish economy and resulted in increased government funding for the sector
