The autumn meeting of the IAE Western region was held on 11th December in the offices of Boston Scientific in the Galway.

We greatly appreciated the site visit hosted by James Lyons VP Operations Boston Scientific and his colleagues Anthony Malone, R&D Director and Phillipe LaTutor, Director of Engineering who gave a Site Overview & History.
This year Boston Scientific celebrates their 30th year in Galway on a 60 Acre site with over 850,000 Sq. Foot of offices and manufacturing facilities. Boston Scientific employs over 4,400 people on the campus. The Academy got a very good understanding of the biggest R&D facility in the Country.
The Western Region held a short meeting thereafter and was briefed on Academy work plan 2024 outcomes showing how the Academy delivers on its mission of providing thought leadership in a time of great change.
Chair Padraic O’Donoghue outlined a draft meeting and events plan for 2025, which will be published in the new year.
