RAE President Sir John Lazars with IAE President Sean Finlay
Guest speakers included the UK Minister for Science, Lord Vallance and the Chancellor of the Open University, Baroness Martha Lane Fox. The evening was hosted by Amol Rajan of BBC’s University Challenge .
Commenting on the event, Sean Finlay said
“The achievements of the nominees and winners for the RAE Awards demonstrate again the enduring and significant contribution of engineers for society. I was particularly pleased to see an Irish company, EPS Water, feature in the Major Project Award for Sustainability i.e. the Winchburgh Waste Water Treatment Works in Scotland, which uses Nereda technology, also recently successfully deployed in Dublin. I was also pleased to meet IAE Fellow Professor Dame Dervilla Mitchell again at the Awards”.
“IAE and RAE are collaborating in hosting the 2026 Conference of European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering (“Euro CASE”), to be held in Belfast. I am very much looking forward working with our UK colleagues on this event, which will focus on Engineering Resilience of European Digital and Physical Infrastructure.”
