The autumn meeting of the IAE Southern region was held on 26th November 2024 in a Board room of ARUP in Cork.

The meeting was chaired by Brendan Murphy and the agenda included:

Tom Leahy, Immediate past President & Special Advisor,  reported on the review of the Academy 5-year strategy (2021-2025) adopted by IAE Council on 24th  October 2024. This uses the “Balanced Scorecard” an Internationally recognised Business management tool from the Harvard Business School.

Parsons Medal Award. Joe Harford (Former committee chair and Hon. Secretary IAE) confirmed that the 2024 medal award was made on 19th October in Birr Castle to coincide with the Birr Engineering Heritage festival which ran from 18th – 20th October.

There was a very good discussion, which reflected the depth and detail of the work of the Academy and how Academy fellows live and deliver on the Academy mission of providing thought leadership in a time of great change.

 

NOTE: The meeting was followed by a very enjoyable Christmas lunch at the Imperial Hotel Cork, Sketch Restaurant

Social events are an important Academy activity.
