The Academy’s Southern Region held their spring 2024 meeting on 27th February 2024. The meeting was held at DELL Technologies Campus at Ovens in Cork by kind invitation of Academy Fellow Bob Savage – Vice President, Regional CIO for EMEA and Cork Site Leader Dell Technologies.
Attendance at the in person meeting included Mr. Tom Leahy immediate past President, who briefed the meeting on latest Academy developments.
The Site visit included the very impressive 535,000 sq. foot manufacturing facility and 40,000 sq. foot of laboratories. This was followed with presentations by representatives of the Office of Chief Technical Office(OCTO) on the DELL facility and a lively presentation on the impact and future possibilities of generative AI. Our thanks go to Bob Savage and his team including Marguerite Coleman, Ger Hallissey, David Bowden and Laurence Dusoswa who all gave insight into the global work of DELL. The Academy meeting was chaired by Brendan Murphy Southern Region chair who has a very active work programme arranged for 2024.
