The President and a team from the Academy visited the PorterShed in Galway. The PorterShed is a coworking and collaborative space for technology focussed innovation. PorterShed CEO Mary Rodgers and members of her Board and management team outlined the history and work of the PorterShed in building and supporting and scaling the Galway technology ecosystem.
A tour of the buildings located in the Galway City innovation district was also provided.
The Academy team included Ms. Gillian Gregg manager of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) enterprise hub in Belfast located in the Ormeau Baths.
This hub supports engineering entrepreneurs to realise their potential. The visit is a concrete example of delivering on a joint memorandum of understanding (MoU) between our Academy and the RAE signed between the Presidents of both Academies to work together on matters of shared interest. President Tom Leahy said “all three bodies have shared interests to actively develop policies to support innovation and also to support cross border collaboration on matters of technology and innovation”
